Why I hate all the NYE hype
New Year's Eve, is the one night of the year when people around the world gather to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of the next. It's a time for resolutions, champagne toasts, and party hats. But not everyone is a fan of this annual tradition.
Some people find it overrated,
overhyped, and just plain annoying. And if you're one of those people, don't worry, you're not alone. Here are a few reasons why I, for one, am glad that New Year's Eve is over for another year.
The pressure to have a good time. Let's face it, there's a lot of pressure to have a good time on New Year's Eve. Whether you're attending a fancy party or just hanging out at home with friends, there's this unspoken expectation that you have to have the time of your life. But what if you're just not feeling it?
What if you're feeling under the weather or just not in the mood to celebrate? You're supposed to put on a smile and pretend like everything is great, even if it's not. It's just too much pressure.
The crowds and the noise. New Year's Eve is always packed with people, and if you're not a fan of crowds, it can be a real nightmare. Add in the loud music, fireworks, and general chaos, and it's enough to give anyone a headache. And don't even get me started on the traffic and the difficulty of finding a parking spot. It's just not worth it.
The ridiculous party outfits. It seems like everyone feels the need to go all out with their party outfits on New Year's Eve. Sparkly dresses, top hats, and novelty glasses are all par for the course. But why? Who decided that we all had to dress like circus clowns on this one night of the year? It's just too much.
The overpriced events and parties. If you want to go to a fancy party or event on New Year's Eve, be prepared to pay through the nose. Prices are jacked up for everything from tickets to drinks to food, and it's just not worth it.
The forced socialization. If you're an introvert like me, the thought of being surrounded by a bunch of strangers and having to make small talk for hours on end is just unbearable. New Year's Eve parties are like a social obligation, and they can be exhausting.
The amateur fireworks. Every year, there are always a few people who think it's a good idea to set off their fireworks on New Year's Eve. But more often than not, these amateur pyrotechnicians end up setting something on fire or blowing off a finger. It's just not worth the risk.
The unrealistic expectations. The hype around New Year's Eve can be overwhelming, with people setting grandiose goals and making grandiose plans for the year ahead. But the reality is that most of these plans and goals will never come to fruition. It's just setting yourself up for disappointment.
So there you have it, just a few of the many reasons why I, for one, am happy that New Year's Eve is over for another year. It's not that I'm a party pooper or a grinch, it's just that the whole thing is overrated and overhyped. I'll take a quiet night in with a good book any day.
Bye 2022
